Myrtle Beach Is South Carolina’s Little Gem

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about why Myrtle Beach is such a fabulous year-round vacation spot.
What’s So Popular About Myrtle Beach?
Besides the beaches and lively entertainment districts, Myrtle Beach has some championship golf courses and resorts that will satisfy both the pro and the average player. The springtime is when golfers start flocking in to enjoy some tee-time before the summer crowds arrive. There are over 100 great places to choose from for golf in and around the area. But Tidewater Golf Club in North Myrtle Beach and Grand Dunes Resort Golf Course are among the best.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Myrtle Beach?
Summertime is vacation time for the whole family. As such, Myrtle Beach is hopping at this time of the year with great beaches and family deals for any budget. It is the busiest time of the year of course, with many tourists traveling to this family-friendly hot-spot. So we recommend some planning and booking ahead to help you get the most out of your holiday.
Traveling to Myrtle Beach in either the winter months or the Springtime months of March, April, and May is typically less crowded. If you are looking for a more relaxed experience, perhaps for some golf or to get away for a weekend, then this is the time of year that provides a less hectic experience.
What is the weather like in Myrtle Beach?
In the summertime, the weather is pretty hot and humid with some showers giving some relief and passing quickly. The temperatures in summer can range from 70 to 100 degrees. So if you like the heat, then you’ll enjoy the balmy summer days and steamy summer nights here.
Springtime’s, average temperatures in March are around 68 degrees, and in April they go up to an average of 76 degrees. The water is still quite cold for swimming. But the warm, sunny days are a welcome change from the wintry chill that March and April can bring in most of the country! In May the temperature climbs up into the 80s which makes for perfect beach and festival weather! Concerned about the April showers that bring May flowers? In April 2017 Myrtle Beach had only seven days out of 30, of rain and less so in May. Regardless, it passes quickly so your holiday won’t be washed-out if you’re going at this time. The temperatures in the springtime aren’t typically ‘summer-worthy.’ However, the beaches are less crowded, so you can find a great spot to spread your towel and enjoy the day.
The weather from September to November ranges from 83 degrees to 67 degrees. As the summer crowds return home, Myrtle Beach takes a breath. With the Indian summer approaching, this is best time outside of springtime to have the beach all to yourself. Well, maybe not all to yourself, but it will undoubtedly be much quieter. Plus the water will be warm enough to enjoy.
The winter temperatures understandably may not be very beach friendly; with the highs around 60 degrees in December and between 56 – 58 degrees in January and February. But there is still plenty to do. Winter in Myrtle Beach comes with the bonus of beating the crowds at popular attractions and finding discounts on tours. You’ll also find both cheap flights and great deals on accommodation in these off-peak or shoulder times of the year.
What Is The Best Way To Get Around Myrtle Beach?
If you’ve flown in with the family, it’s a good idea to rent a car. Renting a car gives you more options. Plus you’ll have the freedom to pack up for the day and leave things in the car if need be.
There are also many places where you can rent a bike or moped for the day if you’re looking for a little more adventure.
If you’d prefer to be driven around to wherever you’re going, you can catch a cab, or Uber and Lyft. However, with Uber and Lyft, be aware that during peak times, ‘surge-pricing’ kicks-in. So factor this in as it can be expensive if you’re relying on this as your primary mode of transport.
