Atlantic City, New Jersey is well-known for its casinos. However, there’s much more to Atlantic City than the gambling. Of course, you can visit to spend some time in the casinos and try your luck. But if you want to get to know the city, you can take a stroll along the boardwalk, take a look at some museums, go shopping or even go on a boat trip. Enjoy the Boardwalk
The Atlantic City Boardwalk has been open since 1870 and was the first in the United States. It’s still enjoyed by many today, and there are several piers to explore that have been built over the years. The Boardwalk is a great place to shop, and you can find activities like fishing or windsurfing to participate in nearby too. It’s a good choice if you’re with your family. Steel Pier, which opened in 1898, is now an amusement park with rides, as well as a restaurant and bar. See Some History
Many people love to explore some of the history of a destination when they visit. Atlantic City has a few interesting places to take a look at if you’re a history lover. The largest has more than 2,700 (Borgata), while the smallest, Golden Nugget, has more than 2,000 fewer. If you’re feeling lucky, maybe you want to spend a few hours in one of the casinos – just make sure you have a game plan and set yourself some limits.
There’s plenty of shopping fun in Atlantic City, and it’s not just along the Boardwalk. Tanger Outlets gives you one option if you’re looking for designers and name brands, from Nike to Tommy Hilfiger. There’s also Atlantic City Premium Outlets, which offer more shopping options. You can discover various specialist stores around the city, such as Princeton Antiques Book Store or The Little Doll House By the Sea. No matter what you like to buy, you can find it in Atlantic City. Some of the resorts are good options if you’re looking for somewhere to shop too. You don’t have to be staying in one to check them out.
Take a Boat
Atlantic City is on the water, so why not get out and explore by boat? You can take a cruise or boat tour for a different way to enjoy the area. Cruises even include dolphin and whale watching and offer a great way to get away from the city. If you don’t feel like getting on a big boat, you might prefer to try parasailing, windsurfing or another watersport like surfing. There are some great beaches around Atlantic City, so you might just want to enjoy being on the beach instead.
Watersports are one way that you can get active while visiting Atlantic City. You might also be interested in looking for hiking trails or even finding some parks where the kids can play. Brighton Park is a good choice if you’re looking for somewhere clean and well-kept to spend some time. The AC Waterfront Sculpture Park is also an enjoyable location and a fun place to walk or run. A few miles away from Atlantic City, you might want to check out the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanside. It’s an excellent place for birdwatching, with herons, osprey, and lots of other birds that live in and around the water.
Eat and Drink
Of course, you can also spend your time in Atlantic City enjoying the cafes, restaurants, and bars that are on offer. Atlantic City has plenty of different things on offer, so choose what you like best. If you’re looking for local cuisine, try out Harry’s Oyster Bar and Seafood or the Gilchrist Restaurant. There’s plenty of the usual places for coffee and desserts, like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, but if you want something different, try out Tazza Caffe Delizioso. There’s lots of nightlife on offer, even if you don’t want to spend your time in the casinos. You can try one of the hotel bars, like the rooftop bar at The Claridge.
